These questions are from the old “paper” version of the SAT… check out my more recent Digital SAT Math Crash Course videos to get a sense of the question types I’d expect you to see on your upcoming test… Not sure what your school offers but some schools offer a digital PSAT 8/9 which would have questions similar to the SAT but with the highest level-of-difficulty questions removed… anyone can take the regular SAT test as well, anytime it’s offered, including 7th grade students… Make sense?

Here’s what I recommend for all my students who struggle with academic vocabulary (and reading comprehension in general): Read 15 minutes per day, looking up definitions of every single unfamiliar vocabulary word as you read. Write down the word and definition (keep it simple - whatever that word means in the context of the sentence… just a word or two is good) Flash cards and vocab worksheets aren’t that helpful, because the SAT isn’t just about definitions: it’s about definitions IN CONTEXT. So pick out a non-fiction book on a topic you’d actually be interested in reading for 15 minutes per day, and read it well, looking up definitions as you go. Keep that up for 6 weeks + and you will start actually understanding what you’re reading in a way you never did before! Takes time to build, but like any skill the benefits compound over time. With practice you can become fluent in “academic English” and you’ll reap the rewards with a score increase on the Reading and Writing section… Make sense?

I’d call that “structuring equations/expressions” but really I’d just approach it as a “plugging in values” question, like so many others of the ACT/SAT!

I took Tsi yesterday for first time and passed with 974. You don't have to worry if you have practiced questions which are similar to that of pre assesment and check more of those word problem equations of arithmetic. In the first half I got more of splitting factor problems, probabilty (with table) statistics (with increase or decrease of people or sales), algebra (quadratic equations and square root) then geometry (area of 3D and 2D) . It was getting difficult at the end but the test is untimed so you have all the time in the world to sit and complete the test and if you don't get the answer, do the way that is told by Mr. Toohey. It's effective. The questions won't be the same but they are similar and it depends for each person. so all the best! You can do this.

@@Jose-xq5ol Well, don't worry because it's not a big deal like SAT. Tsi is much basic and simple than SAT. You can surely pass if you have practiced them.😊 or you can retry if you fail. It's 20 qstns. You should score 950 to pass to anywhere as 990. OR if you score below, you will be asked to take diagnostic test of 48 qstns and should score a 6 to pass AGAIN it's untimed you don't have to worry abt finishing the exam on time.

CLEP is a test you can take to earn college credits… I’ve never taken the test so I can’t speak to the content or difficulty level, but if you can test out of more classes and earn some credits without taking the class, it can save you time and money… I’d seriously consider giving it a shot!

That’s it! I usually recommend smaller numbers like 0 and 1 to start (just makes the arithmetic easier) but if you need to increase the values you can! Sometimes you see an expression like x/5 and there it makes sense to plug in a 5 to simplify the expression… so it’s not a hard rule… But as a rule of thumb start with 0 and 1

Good question! Whenever you see a right triangle with a hypotenuse that is a multiple of 5, there’s a really good chance that it’s a 3,4,5 right triangle! Could be a 6,8,10 (as appears in the question) or a 9,12,15, or a 12,16,20… it’s just helpful to have your radar up for those!

You’re right! Both C and D give your 9 when x=0 and y=1 That’s why you need to plug in another set of values… But that’s no problem. If you can’t find the answer with the first set of values you plug in… just do it again with different values! You’ll find the right answer!
